@xXxRustyxrevengexXx I don't think Russia is a huge threat right now. China is far more of a threat than Russia... even if we are supposedly allies. Look at WW1 and WW2, how many allies became enemies real quick?

@saviorslegacy it seems that every war game being made lately is about the u.s. fighting russia or about russia invading america. its insane!

@MaTaRu39 You bet your tush it is! If nothing else the shelter would be good protection from wild fires and earthquakes.

@VeryUb3r This shelter was originally built by the Church Universal and Triumphant (CUT) which was a fringe religion that mixed Christianity, New Age mythology and survivalism. Elizabeth Clare Prophet, the church's prophetess ordered these shelters built and had expendable funds from real estate sales and from contributions from her followers. The contributors would get to use the shelter when the war happened. Interest in the shelter died out when she prophesied a nuclear war that never came.

@saviorslegacy Don't forget China and splinter terrorist groups as well as a rogue military leader in one of these countries starting a launch on their OWN volition! Near accidental launches happen on a regular basis. I'm building a shelter. I don't see why ANYONE would think that's "weird" in a world like this. However, sadly, many soldiers in my Reserve unit make light of my shelter project. Oh well, my gf and I will be safe when the "Big One" hits.

@ELITEtaylor2000 A shelter this size would be in the MILLIONS by today's standards! You can build something smaller but cheaper out of old fuel storage tanks or from corrugated steel pipes. I would check out Utah Shelter Systems' website. Google them. Also, there is the Vivos project (again, google it) where you can buy into a mass shelter like a timeshare kind of thing. I personally want my OWN shelter. I don't want to be sharing it with a bunch of strangers. |
